Our Program
Our after-school program provides structure, enrichment, and hands-on project-based learning for school-age students. Children complete homework in a calm, supportive environment, then unwind through movement, sports, creative projects, and weekly Spanish integration that build confidence and real-world skills.
Schools we serve:
- Blackburn Elementary School
- Griffin Elementary School
- Dewberry Elementary School
Three Pillars of Excellence
Our program is built on three interconnected pillars because children genuinely thrive when structure, curiosity, and movement work together.
Project-Based Learning
Every week, children work on hands-on projects that challenge their thinking and spark creativity, from engineering challenges to community impact activities. Learning sticks because it is real. Projects feel like exploration, not more homework.
Homework Support (Without the Stress)
Homework is handled here, calmly, with focused guidance and encouragement. That means your evenings are free. No battles. No backpack anxiety. Just a child who arrives home ready to relax.
Play, Sports & Community
Play is not a break from learning. It is how children learn best. From outdoor games to team sports to cooperative challenges, our students move, connect, and build the social-emotional skills that classrooms cannot always reach.
Daily Consistency Building Confidence
Consistency matters. Here is exactly how each afternoon flows at Bear Creek Lodge so you always know what your child is doing and why.
4:00 to 4:15 pm: Arrival, Snack and Free Play
A calm transition from school to our space. Children settle in, connect with friends, and decompress.
4:15 to 4:45 pm: Group Split
Group A moves into structured Homework and Quiet Study. Group B heads outside for Play, Sports, or Community Activity.
4:45 to 5:45 pm: Groups Switch
Every child gets equal time for focused academics and active play. No one skips either.
5:45 to 6:15 pm: Project-Based Learning or Spanish
Alternating each week, students dig into a hands-on project or an immersive Spanish activity.
6:15 to 6:30 pm: Wrap-Up and Calm Play
Reflections, wind-down, and quiet activities so children are ready to greet you at the end of the day.
Weekly Spanish Integration
Most programs stop at homework and games. At Bear Creek Lodge, children also get weekly Spanish immersion, naturally folded into projects, play, and conversation. Research consistently shows that early language exposure enhances cognitive flexibility, memory, and problem-solving. We weave Spanish into the rhythm of the day so it feels effortless and sticks.
Each week includes:
- Mini-lessons tied to the week’s project theme
- Vocabulary integrated into hands-on activities
- Conversational practice in small groups
- Games, storytelling, and role play in Spanish
What Your Child Gains
Our goal is not to extend the school day. It is to expand what your child is capable of, in ways that feel exciting rather than exhausting. We meet every child where they are and take them somewhere further.
Younger students focus on exploration, creativity, and foundational skills. Older students step into leadership, planning, and deeper project roles. Every child is challenged but never overwhelmed.
